Description

Product Description This IRWIN 29-Piece Titanium Nitride Coated Drill Bit Set includes drill bits with Titanium Nitride coating that reduces friction and withstands heat, lengthening the life of the cutting edge and keeping it sharp. These drill bits are designed for repetitive metal drilling with portable drills and stationary drill presses. The 135° split-point tip on each step drill bit starts drilling immediately and helps eliminate walking. Amazon.com The Irwin 29-Piece Titanium Metal Index Drill Bit Set is ideal for drilling wood, metal, or plastic. Built from titanium metal, this set offers the best heat resistance for drilling hard and abrasive materials, and is built extra hard for greater durability. This titanium nitride coating extends the cutting edge life up to 6 times that of a normal drill bit. Each bit comes with a 135-degree split point tip that starts on contact and cuts with less force. The reduced shank above 3/8-inches allows the use of larger drill bits in a 3/8-inch chuck, while removable cartridges make it easy to carry bits from case to the worksite. Additionally, this set includes a tap and drill selection chart for convenient reference, as well as a rubber over-molded case that protects kit if dropped. What's in the Box 29 drill bits: 1/16-inch to 1/2-inch bits in 1/64-inch increments, and a rubber-overmolded case that protects the kit if dropped. From the Manufacturer Irwin Industrial Tools 3018003 29-Piece Drill Bit Industrial Set Case, Tin coated. Irwin offers a complete line of Metal Twist Drill Bits, including Black Oxide, Turbo Point, Titanium Nitride and Cobalt Drill Bits. See more

I'm building a high pressure gas burner out of 3/4" black steel pipe... I just drilled 210 - 1/8" holes using the bit out these as soon as I got them; & the 210th hole went just as nice & easy as the 1st hole did!. You might find cheaper, but you won't find anything better than these, nor equal too, with-out spending equal money! I must have like 300+ bits... "a big 125 pc set from costco, one from sams & one from either walmart or homedept which are fine for doing occasional wood working & similar, but junk for anything serious... I just spent 3 days using an assortment of the cheap ones trying to do the same thing I just did with ONE Erwin in about 45 mins.... I highly recommend them!! Choose wisely Grasshopper!I'm fan of Irwin TurboMax drill bits for a quite a long time. They always deliver faster speed, ease of drilling, no walking, in almost all materials that you can meet in life, except stone and ceramics. If you going to order these drill bits, please take care of the following fact: These drill bits have 4 cutting edges, instead of 2, as on usuall drill bits, so they require more torque, but lower speed. So, if you're using AC powered drill, which generally has higher RPM, but lower torque, than this drill bits is not for you. Or, if your AC drill has mechanical gear shift, shift it to lowest available speed. Optimal speed for these drill bits is around 1000rpm, and even 300-400rpm for larger diameters. Of course it will work on higher speeds also, but bits much more faster become dull or even tip broke off. Also consider, YOU CAN'T SHARPEN THEM, whatever various manufacturers of drill bit sharpeners may say!The bits are what I've come to expect from Irwin, they're sharp, straight, and durable. The case is a disappointment though. Some of the bits are too tight a fit, but the smallest three fall out of their slots when the case is closed. A cheap looking cardboard panel with drill and tap information covers the bottom of the case to hide the melt points used to attach the exterior plastic. I purchased a The best 1-16" through 1/2" by 32nds set I've found for drilling through mild steel, all for less than $20. This is my "private reserve" set that nobody else gets to borrow at work (structural steel shop). I dinged it one star because there are some Brazilian bits mixed in with the USA ones, and I just dunno about that. Irwin makes great tools and I would rather pay more than see them wash out on quality. With a good 1/2 drill, and correct speed, these bits rock. For me the only drawback is they are reduced shaft to 3/8.Best drills I ever had and I have had of lot of them that were a lot worse and I paid a lot more.Craftsman,Milwaukee Triumph don't compare to these.Buy this set not just the name.I have been dissapointed with Irwin tools and drills in the past but they did something right this time.I had bought me some Snap on drill bits and with there performance I was a bit sad for how much I spent.I had a few buddies who bought this set and they drill amazingly. Got the set and I couldn't be any happier!!!No hole is unstoppable. I will get in now!!!!The group who designed the shrink wrap packaging for this product need to fired! It took nearly 1 hour for me to cut my way into the drill bit set and clean off the gobs of glue they used to secure product description. Also, the case latch is poorly designed - difficult to open and close.not sure why i have waited so long to purchase such a high quality set of drill bits, my eyes have been opened!
