What can I say it's a drill bit at a very good price it's sharp and did what I wanted...Too drill through my bathroom wall to fit a shower rail...The bricks are proper bricks NOT the lightweight mainly sand bricks the building trade use today to build these modern paper houses.Solid bricks made during the 40s 50s are dense and take a lot of effort to drill through....This drill bit did what I bought it for...drill or make 2 holes in old fashioned proper solid house bricks! The drill is priced at a fair price for the seller to make a profit and you get a good item....Hope it helps ....STAR-LORDUsing a hammer drill, then a friends hammer drill, this failed to make any progress getting through a concrete breeze block garage wall. In the end I had to borrow my friend's masonry drill bit, that did the job (though progress was slow). The cross head design of this bit, it not typical of masonry drill design, that typically have 2 opposite cutting edges. It’s not clear how the cross head would work effectively, since there's no path for debris to run down the drill spirals, because the cross head is 360 degrees around the tip.Perhaps it’s more effective on standard bricks.I was drilling through what I thought was a two-brick wall. To my dismay I did not get right through. Closer examination revealed that this wall was three bricks thick at this point, though this was not at all obvious. So I bought this - very impressed by the low price; I could expect to pay more than twice for a normal length drill. And it did the job champion. A useful addition to my tool kit, though I don't expect I'll need the full length very often.I bought this as I thought I didn't have an 8mm masonry bit and I only needed to drill three holes in a brick wall. Before it arrived I found I did have one after all and decided to compare the two. I've no idea what brand my old bit is but it's streets ahead of the Silverline bit. It's handy for starting off a hole because of the cross head but otherwise it really struggled to get through just 5cm of brick. I ended up using it just to get things started then using the old bit to get the holes drilled. You get what you pay for I suppose, but this 8mm bit wasn't even good for one small job.I bought this because I needed a 5.5mm masonry drill bit. The set I already have has a 5mm and a 6mm bit, but not 5.5mm. I selected this one because it is very well priced. But if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. It just didn't get into the wall at all - just too blunt. I had instead to use my old 5mm bit, which got into the wall in seconds, but was a tight squeeze for what I needed it for. A shame, but I guess you get what you pay for.
